Sam had been in RSPCA kennels for over a year when the Labrador Life Line Trust were asked to take him, he was so depressed, had a dull coat and walked badly due to joint pain plus being kept in kennels for so long didn't help, he spent the christmas of 2006 with the patrons of the Labrador Trust at their home laid on a rug in front of a roaring fire, they told me when he saw the fire a glimmer of hope could be seen in his sad eyes, maybe he remembered his past,
We choose Sam from a long list of dogs that needed a good home plus who would want a 10yr old dog on medication, well we did! and he came to us on January 12th 2007, he was such a fine old boy, loving, well trained and like a big soft teddy bear, as we have 2 other dogs it took no time at all for them all to get along and with gentle walks he became a lot stronger, plus lots of TLC he turned out to be a very happy dog, his dull coat now looked so healthy and his eyes sparkled and also with his medication he found a new lease of life, He traveled many miles with us in our caravan in fact he took to it like a duck to water, he also had a way of smiling showing his front teeth when he wanted something,
Sam suddenly became ill on 17th September and we sadly said goodbye on Thursday 18th, It broke my heart to say goodbye but i know he's now waiting at the rainbow bridge

My Love For Animals

Animals are loyal,
loving and obedient.
Caring and affectionate,
Gorgeous as can be!
Animals are friends,
Best friends to me.
Always standing by you,
As willing as can be.
Always underestimated,
But still they exist.
Nothing will ever hurt them more,
Than hatred and mistrust.
Always there to talk to,
Although they don't reply.
You see it in their eyes,
And know that they'll stand by.
They save life's,
And help the blind.
But still we do not see,
That animals weren't made as slaves,
But as friends for you and me!!!
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and they are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days gone by. The animals are so happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together each day, but then the day comes when one suddenly stops and peers into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
YOU have been spotted, and when you finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved soft head, and you finally get to look once again into the loving eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.

When you bring a pet into your life, you begin a journey - a journey that will bring you more love and devotion than you have ever known, yet also tests your strength and courage. I must caution you that this journey is not without pain. Like all paths of true love, the pain is part of loving. For surely as the sun sets, one day your dear animal companion will follow a trail you cannot yet go down. And you will have to find the strength and love to let them go. A pets time on earth is far too short - especially for those that love them. We borrow them really, just for awhile, and during these brief years they are generous enough to give us all their love, every inch their spirit and heart, until one day there is nothing left. Deep down we somehow always knew that this journey would end. We knew that if we gave our hearts they would be broken. But give them we must for it is all they ask in return. When the time comes, and the road curves ahead to a place we cannot see, we give one final gift and let them run on ahead - young and whole once more. "Godspeed, good friend" we say, until our journey comes full circle and our paths cross again.

A DOGGIE PRAYER ♥♥
So do not grieve for me, my friend, as I am with my kind.
My collar is a rainbow's hue
My leash is a shooting star
My boundaries are the milky way, where I sparkle from afar. ♥♥
There are no pens or kennels here, for I am not confined,
but free to roam God's heavens among my special kind. I nap the day on a snowy cloud and gentle breezes are rocking me; I dream the dreams of earthlings and how it used to be. ♥♥
The trees are full of liver treats and tennis balls abound, and milk bones line the walking ways just waiting to be found.There even is a ring set up, the grass all lush and green, and everyone who gaits around becomes the "Best Of Breed". ♥♥
For we're all winners in this
place, we have no faults
you see. And God passes
out the ribbons to each
one--even me. I drink from
waters laced with gold, my
world a beauty to behold.
And wise old dogs do form
my pride to amble at my

To my dearest family,
some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know,
that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from the Bridge.
Here I dwell with God above.
Here there's no more tears of sadness.
Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy
just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you
every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you
when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me
and He said, "I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family,
They'll be here later on."
God gave me a list of things,
that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list,
was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night
the day's chores put to flight,
God and I are closest to you...
in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth,
and all those loving years,
because you are only human,
they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry:
it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers,
unless there were some rain.
I wish that I could tell you
all that God has planned.

Precious Love
The agony is so great...
and yet I will stand it.
Had I not loved so very much...
I would not hurt so much.
But God knows I would not want to diminish
that precious love...
By one fraction of an ounce.
I will hurt...
And I will be grateful for that hurt
For it bears witness to the depth of my love.
And for that I will be eternally grateful.
